Net Zero is an exciting path in the fight against global warming and the harmful effects of pollution. It is a never-ending journey, because the goal of zero emissions is impossible. However, we can get very close by complying with European standards, measuring our emissions, reducing them, and offsetting them. This path has increasingly stringent regulations that we must comply with, but it also has benefits in terms of differentiating our brand and our products in the eyes of our customers.

Reduction

The first step in embarking on our journey to Net Zero is to understand our emissions, measure them, and certify them. Certifying our emissions with Miteco and obtaining our Carbon Footprint allows us to clearly certify our strategy as a company to reach Net Zero and will also help us in public tenders and with our large clients, who will already be requiring their production and supply chains to be certified. Let’s not forget that the most important Spanish companies and some sectors are already required to measure and offset their emissions.

Compensation

We already have a starting point, our emissions. We need to consider an emissions reduction system that is impossible to achieve 100%, but with proper planning, we can reduce them significantly. This plan is an essential requirement for Miteco to achieve its footprint.

Carbon Credits

In accordance with the reduction plan, we will make a compensation projection through the purchase of carbon credits. Depending on the level of emissions for large emitters, we will study the international voluntary market. For smaller emitters, we will recommend the use of the Miteco regulated market.

We will negotiate on the voluntary market or regulated market to acquire the carbon credits or bonds necessary to offset the certified emissions in your carbon footprint.
